Story review

The protagonist of the game is a former officer of the so-called Human Republic, who accidentally developed magical powers of unknown origin. Although our hero tried to keep the whole incident secret, they did not manage to hide this fact from their superiors, who decided to use their body to carry out various dangerous experiments.

Luckily, our playable character is able to escape, but wandering through the wilderness turns out to be a bad idea. As they meander through a dense forest, they are attacked by a group of monsters. In the spirit of classic RPG games, the interface in Wolcen Lords of Mayhem is based on a standard, isometric view. Most of the gameplay consists of us fighting enemies, but there are also elements that push the plot forward.

The character we play has a number of means to eliminate monsters at hand. In true RPG fashion, individual weapons (and armour) can be improved at all times, leading us to become able to fight with even more advanced enemies.

Another interesting thing that distinguishes Wolcen Lords of Mayhem from other RPG games, is how unique the hero’s development system is. Here, the character develops how we want them to. It is determined by our own style of gameplay and the decisions we make along the way. This means that, after some time, our protagonist may grow an extra arm or be able to jump really far.
